FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about Integrity Services

What is LDAR?

LDAR means Leak Detection and Repair, a methodology for minimizing fugitive emissions from industrial process plants.

What is OGI?

OGI means Optical Gas Imaging, a technique of visualizing specific gases in air based on ultra-sensitive, very narrow band infrared imaging technology.

The plume image density in OGI is related to the density of carbon-hydrogen bonds in the gas plume.

What is FID?

FID stands for Flame Ionisation Detector. All hydrocarbon gas leaks to atmosphere are detectable with the equipment.

What is PID?

PID stands for Photo Ionisation Detector. This type of detector could detect any compound whose ionisation potential is less than 11.8.

Most unsaturated hydrocarbons and some inorganic compounds are detectable with this equipment.

What is ULD?

ULD means Ultrasonic Leak Detection.

ULD is a powerful and sensitive leak detection technology that can detect leaks of any gas type. It complements FID and OGI leak detection technology. ULD can be used in leak surveys for compressed air, nitrogen, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons or leak from any pipework or vessels where internal pressures exceed a couple of atmosphere.

What is the purpose of component ID?

KLINGER Atmeco ID systems are robust processes and tools to find, identify, and characterise components, and to record their integrity performance and any actions taken on each component.

What is PLS?

PLS means Potential Leak Sources.

What is Method 21?

Method 21 or US EPA Method 21, a standardized methodology for measuring the concentration of process gases leaking from leak sources developed by US Environmental Protection Agency.

What is GHG?

GHG stands for GreenHouse Gas. These are the types of gases that absorbs and emits radiant energy within the Infra-Red (IR) band of electromagnetic radiation spectrum.
