Marking 30 Years of Always Showing Up and Doing the Solid Work

“Thank you for the appreciation. Enjoy the food!” That’s all he said. A short, sincere message from someone who’s never needed many words to leave an impression.

Last week, the team gathered for a low-key celebration to mark something quite special: 30 years since Winston started working with KLINGER Australia.

Originally from India, he spent six years in Saudi Arabia before moving to Australia 31 years ago. Like many new arrivals, he took on hospitality work to get started. Then on 3rd June 1995, he walked into an interview at KLINGER — and by the end of the day, he had been offered the job. It was the beginning of something lasting.

His work began on the factory floor in sheeting cut-off and print. He learned everything hands-on, quietly figuring things out and getting the job done. A few years later, he moved into the mixing shop. Over time, he stepped into other areas too: metal gasket manufacturing, packing — wherever extra hands were needed.

But if you ask him what part of the job he liked most, he doesn’t hesitate. It was the lab work.

“I really enjoyed the lab. I tested materials, checked chemical compounds and gave feedback to help improve product quality,” he says. “It was very interesting work. And it gives me real satisfaction.”

He never chased titles. If something had to be done, he was there.  Regardless of the task, he just showed up, paid attention and gave his best.

We did ask him the reason he stayed for 30 years. One trait has defined his time at KLINGER above all else: supportiveness. And his story is one of strength and gratitude.

“There were times when I went through really tough periods due to family issues,” he reflects. “KLINGER supported me through it all. That meant a lot.”

That stability allowed him to build a full life outside of work: raising three children, buying a home and even sharing the KLINGER floor with his son for a few years before he moved on to a welding career. It remains one of his fondest memories.

I’ve always enjoyed coming in to work,” he says. “I don’t need the limelight. I’m happy just doing what needs to be done, quietly in the background.”

At his celebration, he asked for nothing more than for everyone to enjoy the food. But we want him to know: to us, he represents the very best of what KLINGER stands for. Positive in attitude, strong in spirit, consistent in action through decades of change — an everyday hero whose quiet dedication has left a powerful mark.

Thank you for everything. We’re proud and grateful to have you as part of the KLINGER family.
